For most of us, we have all experienced some sort of hole or indention in our drywall for various reasons. Those of us with kids and pets… maybe more than others! Below we have included a simple step process to patching those holes yourself using any patch kit found at your local hardware store.
For small holes, like those created by a doorknob, a patch kit may be used.
Place the self-adhesive mesh patch over the hole.
Use a drywall knife to cover the patch with lightweight joint compound in a crisscross pattern, feathering the edges so it blends with the wall. To feather the edge, increase pressure and angle on the drywall knife as you reach the outer edges of the patch area to minimize, or thin, the joint compound on the drywall.
Let the patch dry and apply a second coat of compound if needed. Sand smooth. Once this is complete, you can then paint over the patch with matching wall color.
Voila!! You now have successfully patch a drywall hole!
